Theme: Nuestra Voz, Nuestro Futuro
Nuestra Voz, Nuestro Futuro invites students to envision themselves as both storytellers and change-makers, recognizing that their lived experiences and identities are not only valid but powerful places where their stories begin. This theme emphasizes the importance of students understanding and claiming their own voice in order to gain the confidence to shape their path and influence the spaces around them. At its core, Nuestra Voz, Nuestro Futuro empowers each student to understand their agency in shaping the future they are stepping into and communicate that journey through their artwork.
About the District Art Contest
The MASBA District Art Competition celebrates the creativity, cultural expression, and artistic talent of students across our member districts. Held each year at the MASBA Annual Conference, the competition provides a platform for students to share their perspectives, identities, and stories through visual art. All accepted artwork is displayed throughout the conference, allowing students to showcase their work to attendees from across the country.
Each year, MASBA awards over $2,000 in art grants to competition winners, supporting students as they continue to grow in their artistic practice. Students also have the opportunity to participate in an on-site art auction, giving them the chance to sell their original work and gain experience in presenting their art to a broader audience.
The District Art Competition reflects MASBA’s commitment to uplifting student voices and celebrating the diverse experiences that enrich our communities.
