We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Entrepreneurial-you see opportunity where others see obstacles
  • Mission-obsessed-educational equity for Latino students isn’t just a cause, it’s a calling
  • Adaptable-you thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and never stop moving forward

If you’re ready to make a real impact on millions of students while building sustainable growth for an organization that’s changing the game, we want to hear from you.

School board members shape the policies that define the future of education for millions of students. Yet the research needed to guide them toward inclusion and excellence, especially for Latino and marginalized communities, remains critically underdeveloped.

That’s where the next generation of scholars comes in. MASBA-School Board Members for Latino Equity is thrilled to launch the inaugural 2026 MASBA Research Fellows Program, a unique opportunity for advanced doctoral students who are ready to push the boundaries of educational equity research and make a real impact on school board policy across the nation.

This fellowship is built for doctoral students at the dissertation stage who are studying issues of inclusion and equity within school boards. If that’s you, we want to invest in your work.

Fellows will receive:

  • Four personalized consultations with MASBA’s Executive Director and Research Director throughout 2026
  • A three-day writing retreat in Austin, TX, featuring small and large group consultations, dedicated writing time, and space for rest and renewal
  • Select fellows may be invited to present their research at the MASBA Annual Conference in September 2026 in San Antonio, TX, in front of over 200 school board members
